Democratic Candidate for Governor Jill Long Thompson

Long Thompson Explains Economic Plan

Democratic Candidate for Governor, Jill Long Thompson, met with residents in Goshen Thursday to lay out her plan for the state’s economy.

Her three-tiered strategy would provide up to a $3,500 tax credit for each job created as long as the company offers to pay at least half of the premiums for health insurance and the job pays more than the county average wage, among other requirements.

Long Thompson says the program would pay for itself by growing the state’s economy.

“What you’re doing is expanding the economic base, and therefore, without raising taxes you’re generating the revenues that you need.”

Also, Long Thompson plans to create a $500 tax credit for each new environmentally friendly “green job” created and a 3% credit for businesses that purchase equipment to lessen their environmental impact.
